Mount Kilimanjaro
An independent, sourced reference for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro — six guides covering routes, cost, timing, difficulty, gear, and operators, each checked against KINAPA/TANAPA park data and named operators, and carrying a last-verified date instead of a disclaimer.
At 5,895 metres, Kilimanjaro's Uhuru Peak is Africa's highest point and the world's tallest freestanding mountain — three volcanic cones (Kibo, Mawenzi, and the long-eroded Shira) rising straight off the Tanzanian plain to a summit still capped in ice and snow. No ropes, ice axes, or technical climbing are required on any of the standard trekking routes: this is a long, high-altitude walk, not a mountaineering objective. That's also what makes it dangerous in a different way — altitude, not technical difficulty, is what turns climbers back, and the routes with the best summit-success rates are the ones that give your body more days to acclimatize.
